BFF

Friendships sometimes start under unusual circumstances, and the length of the relationship and quality of the friendship is often unpredictable. This is my bff Lee. We are ridiculous together. He taught me all about the horribleness that are ginger people* and introduced me to English pancakes, which by the way are amazing! Since meeting Lee about a month ago, we have talked virtually everyday, where we talk about everything and nothing at all. But sadly Lee is leaving tomorrow, he's in the RAF (Royal Air Force) and his time spent here is up for now. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't going to miss him. But he and I have it all figured out, I'm moving to Manchester and opening up a pancake shop, where Lee will always get free pancakes, and in return he is going to teach me British slang.

*I really don't think people with red hair are any worse than any other demographic BUT the British have made teasing gingers a sport! In a previous post I said that I was told all gingers "smell of twiglets and fox piss." When I tell British guys what I was told they laugh hard, and then assure me it is true.

Date night

I went on a first date tonight. I hadn't been on a proper first date since February, but this time I had an exceptionally great time. His name is Daniel, he's 29, and British. The funny thing is that I hadn't met him until today, so it had a blind date aspect to it. It's actually an interesting story,  you see about a month and a half ago I became friends with a British female soldier name Jenny, we exchanged numbers so we could go shopping or hang out. Anyway, the phone that she had was lent to her by the Royal Army, and when Daniel got here a couple of weeks ago he was issued the phone. Well it turns out my number was still stored in it, and so he texted last week and we started talking. Shortly after we became friends on facebook, and he asked me if I would show him around. My showing him around quickly turned into a movie thing, which then included dinner. Typical date, but I had so much fun! He is such a gentleman, well mannered, polite, witty, and his accent and good looks only added to his charms. We plan on going out again soon, which I am really looking forward to because this was one of the best nights I've had in a long time.

6 down 6 more to go

My New Years resolution this year was to make 2011 my best year ever. Well half the year is done and gone, and I thought it would give a 6 month update. So far, I love 2011! It is definitely one of my favorite years, and I hope it only gets better from here. I've met so many great people, have gotten myself in some pretty epic shenanigans, and although I haven't checked many things (or any) off my bucket list I am pretty optimistic. Sure there are certain things that I wish I could do over, and people I wish I would have never met, but in all I think those are the things that have made the good stuff that much better! I have learned to live life without regrets, and have definitely become more outgoing. I enjoy being ridiculous, and I'm having so much fun. This is one new years resolution that I'm glad I've kept!
