Parents often spend countless hours devoted to choosing what they believe is the perfect name for their unborn child. But what exactly is in a name? and is there a possibility that a name can define you?

My name is Kylah (/ky-la/). I'm not entirely sure how my mom chose my name, as my dad wanted to name me Michelle. And although growing up (and even now) I can never find my name on any personalized name objects, I happen to really like my name, because it is unique, and I think it sounds pretty. I have also learned to accept the fact that my name is easily forgotten and will be mispronounced time and time again.

When I meet new people I make a sincere effort to remember their name. I will often say their name multiple times throughout the night in order to connect the name to the face. I also accept/expect for people to forget my name it in a matter of minutes. Believe me I am pleasantly surprised/glad when my name is remembered and pronounced correctly.

So where exactly does my name come from, and what does it mean? Well I did some research, and although I couldn't pinpoint an exact origin or meaning, one can suggest that Kylah is of Gaelic origin (Gaelic languages include Irish & Scottish), and means beautiful. Haha I was especially surprised by the Urban Dictionary meaning of my name, as I am easily distracted and am prone to acts of randomness. Take a look.
